Tratt-Skinner at the treble in Upottery Reserves away win

Upottery Reserves followed up a 3-0 midweek win at Dunkeswell Rovers by recording a third straight macron league Division Five early season victory, winning 5-2 at Bampton Reserves.

A lack of arability led to the Glebe Park men travelling to Mid Devon with a bare 11 and they fell behind after just two minutes.

Indeed, but for a super save by Jake Welch they could have been two down before Cody Tratt-Skinner netted to level things up.

A terrific ball, played by the outstanding Phil Derryman, who bossed midfield for much of the game, played in Tratt-Skinner to make it 2-1 before the youngster completed a first half-hat-trick. Just before the break the home side tucked a way a penalty to leave Upottery 3-2 ahead at the interval.

Owen McCreadie-Taylor extended the lead after the break before the final goal – a route one effort – was set up by a long-range kick from glovesman Jake Welch that McCreadie-Taylor headed over the home goalkeeper to complete the scoring.

The match referee selected McCreadie-Taylor for the top player award while the large number of travelling Upottery followers could not chose between new signing Will Stevens and hat-trick scoring Tratt-Skinner.

On Saturday (September 8), Upottery second team are back at Bampton to contest a Football Express Cup tie (2pm).
