The Fishermen chalked up their finest away success of the season with a richly deserved win in North Devon.

Prior to their trip up the North Devon Link Road Beer had won just three other away games, and they had lost to a late goal when Barum visited Furzebrake earlier in the season.

The Fishermen had to come from behind to win the game as they trailed to an early home goal before Richard Walker levelled things up 15 minutes before half-time.

After the break the game got very stretched and was played from end to end.

Beer had what looked a good call for a penalty rejected by the match official when James Melville was bundled over, but they were left celebrating with eight minutes to go when Walker rifled in his second, a delightful volley from the edge of the area, to seal victory.

Boss Phil Crabb said: “We deserved it. They (Barum) were a good side, but I felt over the 90 minutes we were worthy of victory. The penalty shout looked a good one and we did feel hard done by so we felt justice was done with the late winner.”

Beer have three to play.

They are back in action on Saturday week (April 21) with a trip to Clyst Valley and then go to Thorverton the following Saturday before bringing the curtain down on their season with a May 9, Furzebrake game against Willand Rovers Reserves.
