Town booked a place in the next round of the senior cup with a much improved display.

The week before Town boss Gary Osbourne had been scathing of his side’s ineptness, but there was none of that after this game.

He said: “That was much better. Clearly what was said in midweek at training sunk in for this was a much improved all-round show. There was a real belief about the play and players were noticeably putting a lot more into their game.”

Tim Genders (2) and Sam Farmer netted the Town goals to mark the Town bosses first year in charge.

Osbourne said: “Twelve months to the day I had taken charge for a Devon senior Cup tie that we won 2-1 and so it was nice to repeat that success on the anniversary.”

Town skipper Darren Witt was an inspiration throughout for his side who also said cheerio (for now) post match to Joe Dixon who is off to Southampton University.

Osbourne says: “We’ll miss Joe (Dixon), but I wish him well in his studies and certainly look forward to when he returns as he intends to do during holidays and breaks from his studies. He’ll certainly always be very welcome at our place.”
