Division 1

Flamingos 41,Uplowman 26

OPG 54,Tip Top Trees 9

Signs South West 21,Weather Girls 23

Having missed two week’s fixtures Flamingos were glad to be back in action, and they found themselves up against Uplowman, the league leaders, writes Graham Ingram.

The game was a keenly-contested affair but, with Sonia Yorke playing well, the Flamingos began to assert their authority and moved into the lead. Although Uplowman played well, Jules Heal especially, they could not get back on terms and it was Flamingos who ran out winners by 41-26. Uplowman retained the top spot thanks to the point they gained from the match.

OPG continued their winning ways with a comfortable victory against the young Tip Top Trees side. OPG took the lead early and dominated the game to win by 54-9. Players of the Match were Harriet Eaton and Phoebe Confrey.

Signs South West have had a good start to the campaign whilst Weather Girls had gone their opening three games without a win. Tonight the Met Office side got the better of SSW in a closely-fought encounter.

The game could have gone either way and it wasn’t until the final period of the final quarter that Weather Girls ensured the three points from their 23-21 victory, thanks in part to good work from Tara Massey-Hall and despite fine play from Clare Graysmark for Signs South West.

Division 2

Howden Hawks 14, JD Tyres 47

Hi Q 42, Sidmouth Toucans 18

Pixies 25, Otter Valley Dairy 18

Hi Q continue to dominate proceedings and they notched up another convincing win against Sidmouth Toucans.

It was Vicki Russell who was the star of the show for the Toucans, but even her performance couldn’t dent Hi Q as they marched on to a 42-18 win, with Sadie Moran playing a great game for them. This leaves Hi Q with their 100 per cent record intact.

JD Tyres must be kicking themselves after forfeiting their opening game against Howden Hawks, the side they were up against tonight. This was because they recorded a 47-14 win, and, had they replicated that in their forfeited game, they would now be on 12 points instead of the six they currently have! Tania Broom was in great form and Meg Falkner once again turned in a great show for Hawks.

After a defeat at the hands of JD Tyres last week Pixies bounced back with a win over Otter Valley Dairy by 25-18. This gave OVD their first point of the campaign, whilst the win kept Pixies in the second promotion spot. Charlotte Broom swept up the point for the dairy.
