Honiton Bowls Club held their club finals and they proved to be a personal success in particular, for two members.

Trevor Pipe was a winner in four finals and Sue Evans was a winner in three.

Trevor teamed up with Carole Ballm and Jenny Richards to defeat Malcolm Grainger, Mike Critchley and Daphne Courtney, to win the Tucker Triples. He also paired up with Yvonne Rayner to defeat Wally Heard and Sue Evans in the final of the Dimond Nex pairs.

Trevor and Yvonne then picked up a second final success, defeating Sue Evans and Colin Mees to win the Corney Mixed Pairs.

Playing on his own in the final of the Heard two-wood singles, Trevor defeated Malcolm Seaborne. However, when the pair met again, in the final of the Hoskins men’s singles it was Malcolm who emerged as the winner with Trevor the runner-up.

For Sue Evans, who appeared in no fewer than five of the finals, it was success in the Pollard ladies singles in which she defeated Yvonne Rayner and Sue also picked up the Ladies Rice Bowl handicap title, beating Carole Binmore in the final.

Sue also linked up with Joyce Granger to defeat Tracy Lambert and Heather Chambers in the Evans ladies pairs.

The Marshall Handicap final saw Joyce Granger defeat Gerry Stafrace while the final of the Webb Open singles ended in success for Gary Osborne with Phil Eells the runner-up.

The Pollard men’s pairs final was won by Phil Eells and Wally Heard, defeating Ron Rogers and Mike Dart.

Last, but certainly not lost, the Fortescue Charity Shield final was won by Norman Baxter, George Kille and Wally Heard.
