Despite pouring rain, which abated just before the first start time, 59 brave souls negotiated the first eclectic of the winter, writes Ann Desmoulins.

The stableford format produced some very good scores and quite a large amount of not-quite-so-good scores, leaving room for improvement in later eclectic rounds.

Division One was won by Bill Phillips with an excellent 40 points narrowly defeating Jim Wallis who had 39 points. In third place was Malcolm Matthews with 35 points, just ahead of Derek Keen with 34.

Division Two was won by Alex Neil with 33 points, second was Garth Millard with 32 and third place went to Dave Anderson with 31, beating James Liell on countback.

There were half-a-dozen twos, each receiving six balls.

They were Alex Neil, Ian Orford, Jim Wallis, Dave Anderson and David Scott on the second and Mike Jones on the 10th.

Mike apparently missed an easy putt on the second for a two, but chipped in on the 10th from about 50 yards!
