This Friday (June 20), two golf professionals and two members from Honiton Golf Club will be undertaking a charity golf marathon in order to raise monies to support the build and ongoing costs of the new Hospiscare day care centre currently under construction in Honiton, writes Andy Wagner.

Adrian Cave, professional and Honiton club manager, James Pickard, a qualified professional together with club members Julian Phillips and Stewart Slater will commence the challenge at 5am on Friday.

If all goes well the quartet expect to finish their challenge between 8 and 9pm.

The four will play four consecutive rounds of 18 holes covering the course on foot (no sit on buggies allowed).

Stewart Slater says: “A demanding day lies ahead, but for such a good cause any aches and pains will be worth enduring. Golf to me is very much about fun and social. Let’s see if I view it in the same light after 16 hours of it! Personally, come Friday afternoon when we pass the halfway mark, I’m sure my focus will be on the finish line and the 19th hole!”

Anyone wishing to make a donation can do so online through the Justgiving website and by typing in the name of one of the Team.

Offline donations can be made at Sweets and Treats Traditional Sweet Shop located in Honiton High Street.
