Honiton Granny Cup joy for Janet Hughes

The Honiton ladies stableford competitions last week were the Granny’s Cup, and for those who do not have grandchildren, the Bournemouth Cup, writes John Pawley.

Whilst conditions were very wet for the early starters, the rain held off and the greens were surprisingly speedy.

The winning granny was ladies’ captain Janet Hughes with 36 points, and the winning non-granny, receiving the Bournemouth Cup, was Tricia Swindell with 33 points. Silver Division was won by Olwen Eaton with 34 points, with Tricia Swindell ahead on countback from Liz Wood; both players scoring 33 points.

Bronze One was won by Janet Hughes with Linda Blundell ahead on countback, from Lesley Farley, with both players scoring 32 points.

The Bronze Two winner was Carol Cole with 31 points, with Chris Major next, on countback, from Cherry Liell (29). The nine-hole winner was Maureen Tollemache.
