Seventy seniors set out to play a stableford competition, but fewer finished, writes Andy Wagner.

Numbers dwindled on the way round as players endured cold winds and driving rain, but despite the conditions Ashley Murray made an impressive 43 points to win Division two produced a victory for Tom Tunnicliffe on 39 points.

Ron Rogers had his best round for a while with 38 points and the last two prizes were won by Rob Canterbury and Bill Phillips.

Alan Devenny won Division one with 38 points followed by Dave Morgan and John Dickinson on 34. Jim Wallis and Buzz Harris took the last prizes. Due to the weather conditions most of the pins were on temporary greens so the event was not a qualifier, but it may be that certain handicaps will be examined!
