The latest Honiton Tuesday Mixed was another four-ball team event with two stableford scores to count, writes Ann Desmoulins.

Seven teams took part and the winners, with 86 points, were Sue and Paul Ritchie with Linda and John Northover.

Second prize went to Sarah and Andy Dawe with Steph and Bob Barnes, who scored 85 points. Third place, with 82 points, was won by Maureen and Laurie Tollemache with Vera and Alan Richardson.

Unfortunately the weather intervened in the ladies Handicap Cup, which was a qualifier in the Medal format.

Those who started early managed to complete their rounds even though it was already raining.

The later starters hopefully carried on through increasingly difficult conditions and with the rain getting heavier and heavier resulting in standing water on both fairways and greens, it was quite e relief when the klaxon sounded for the suspension of play due to low cloud and fog.

The course was not re-opened (if at all) and the decision was taken to abandon the competition and reschedule it for a later date.

A great shame after all the glorious weather we have been experiencing.
