Honiton Devils Under-10s enjoyed an Exeter and District Youth League win double on the final Saturday of September.
First up they defeated Ottery St Mary 31in a match that saw the devils play some smashing football. Led by inspirational slipper Zac Harrison they took an early lead through Sam Foster. The skipper doubled his side’s advantage before the break. In the second half the Otters closed ranks very well and left far less space for the Devils to operate in. However, a third goals was netted with Ewan Evans the scorer. Thereafter Devils seemed to relax a little and that allowed the Otters to bag a late consolation.
Skipper Harrison was named the Devils Man of the Match.
The next game saw Devils take on a useful Feniton side. Once again Devils made a bright start and right wing raid ended with Connor Brown crossing for Haydon Owen to score. Some sloppy defending from front to back allowed Feniton to equalise before half-time.
After the break the Devils increased the tempo of their game and a cross by River Leisk, captaining the side, set up the chance for Ewan Evans to crown a Man of the Match performance with the winning goal.
There were chances at both ends during a frenetic last seven minutes.
The impressive Sam Foster was close a number of times for the Devils whilst behind him the hard-working Jordan Harrison and Zac Harrison were at the heart of much of the good Devils forward play. Dominic McCreadie-Taylor had a fine game in the Devils goal.
