Playing 36 holes in one day can be gruelling, but fine summer weather eased the pain for those ladies taking part in the Jubilee Cup on Wednesday, and Elizabeth Ward was certainly on form as she won this year’s Cup with an impressive total score of 74 stableford points (38 and 36), writes Andy Wagner.
The runner-up was Janet Hughes with a total score of 65 stableford points (25 and 40).
Watch out for reductions ladies! The High 6 Trophy for 30-36 handicaps was also up for grabs this week and was snapped up by Di Wall with 28 points, ahead of Margaret Jory runner-up with 27 points, after countback.
In the normal stableford competition, the Silver Division winner was Elizabeth Ward (38 points) with Anne Davies in second place with 36 points.
The Bronze One Division winner was Linda Blundell with 38 points followed by Olive Pope with 33 and Jan Dickinson was third with 31.
The nine-hole qualifying stableford was won by Babs Knight with 16 points.
Past lady captain, Sue Ritchie, flew the Honiton flag at the Devon lady captain’s golf society spring meeting at Teignmouth as she swept home with top prize The Golf Society Cup, together with the Armada Plate which was presented for the first time to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Golf Society.
