Honiton skipper Kev Kelly was thrilled with his charges after they bagged a 14-point haul that virtually confirms their status as a D Division club for another season.
After batting first and making their way to 185-9, they had Seaton 18-6 in reply before the hosts’ rallied to close on 138-9.
Kelly said: “It was one of those great days when every player in the team, chipped in with bat and ball. The runs were shared around and then, even more impressively, when we were bowling every bowler was so consistent. It was pressure cricket from the first delivery and I could not have asked for more.”
Defeats for both Whimple and Countess Wear mean that Kelly’s team sit 22 points above the drop spots with just two to play. They go to Feniton on Saturday then host Countess Wear and Kelly knows that his sides fate is in their own hands: “We have got ourselves into a healthy position in as much as we know what we need to do to stay in the Division. That’s something I am very confident we can do and then we can have another crack at it next summer.”
