With leaders Uplowman without a game it was a chance for the chasing pack to close the gap at the top of the Honiton Summer Netball League, writes Graham Ingram.

Now just a single point separates first from fourth!

Flamingos held on to second place after a close win over bottom placed Howden Hawks.

The Hawks, with Naomi Firth playing well, led until the final quarter when, thanks to Rachel Burroughs, the Flamingos moved into the lead to win by 55-51. Hawks are still looking for their first success of the campaign!

Blackdown Ladies suffered an even closer defeat when they went down 51-49 against Hi Q who chased down their handicap start to squeeze through at the end. Lisa Cull was in good form for Hi Q whilst Rosie Cook was the Blackdown star.

The top game of the week saw third placed Pixies up against fifth placed OPG and it was the Pixies, for whom Lacey Dorliac shone, who came out on top, winning 54-46, this despite some good work from Bryony Monaghan for OPG.

Signs South West kept in the hunt for honours and they sit fourth after victory over Tip Top Trees.

On a night of close games theirs was the biggest victory as they recorded a 61-53 victory.

It was not until the final quarter that SSW took the lead, and a good deal of that was due to the performance of the effervescent Faye Hawkins at GA. Jenny Robinson once again turned in a quality performance for the Trees.

Latest results.

Flamingos (2) 55, Howden Hawks (36) 51; Hi Q (16) 51, Blackdown ladies (40) 49; OPG (0) 46, Pixies (34) 54; Signs South West (20) 61, Tip Top Trees (30) 53.
