Saturday night was the Angling Trust Wyvern Division/Region presentation Night at the Royal British Legion at Exeter. Numbers attending the function were well down on previous years but the night went well with all the awards for last year presented, writes Mike Spiller.
The evening started with an interesting short talk from Nick Payne from the Angling Trust/Angling Development Board who focused on the work that he and the Angling Trust had been doing over the past 12 months.
The presentation of all the awards took place with Payne doing the honours and handing out the awards. The Division has a few major awards that it gives out and these were as follows.
Castle Trophy Winner was Andy Copping (Paignton SAA) with his shore caught Smoothound of 15-8-5 (193.9 per cent). This also gave Andy £100 to give to his chosen charity which was the Rowcroft Hospice.
The best junior shore award (Dennis Smith Shield) went to Charlie Gray of the Rodbenders SAC with a good Flounder of 3-6-0.
The best junior boat award (Dawlish Trophy) went to Maitland Criddle of Brixham SAC again with a good fish which was a Conger of 62-2-4.
