Last week he was given a yellow card for his second spot in the medal and he came second again in this week’s stableford competition.

He now has to play for the rest of the winter season with a one-shot reduction in his handicap.

The event was slow to start as the course was closed for mist, but it soon cleared and the event got under way on a fairly dry course with a wind affecting play.

Mike Stroud won Division One with a 39. Malcolm Matthews, Don Stroud and David Hughes all made 37 and Alan Seager took the last prize with a 36.

In Division Two John Pawley made the best score of the day with a creditable 41. Peter Blake was runner-up with 37 and the other prize winners were Ron Rogers, Bill Phillips and seniors captain Bob Underwood.
