Archant

The early starters for the Seniors’ Championship, Ron Blatchford Cup, were hoping the weather forecast was correct and rain would come later, writes Andy Wagner.

No such luck and the whole field endured a good soaking! The scores correspondingly reflected this with most players failing to match their handicap. There were a handful of water babies however and in Division One Vic Wood came out on top with 71 just beating Paul Ritchie on countback.

Don Stroud and Tony Williams were next on 72 with Stan Squire taking the final prize with 73.

In Division Two David Lavender was first with 71, six shots better than Peter Blake, George Smith, Jack Phillips and Bill Eaton all with 77 and taking the rest of the prizes.

The Seniors Champion was Vic Wood just beating David Lavender on countback.
