Honiton Tuesday Mixed triumph for Allan Seager and Glenda Board

The mixed invitation event played this week was contested in glorious weather with many compliments from the visitors on the excellent condition of the course, writes Andy Wagner.

Forty-six players participated with guests from over 12 different clubs. The winners, with a score of 46 points, were Allan Seager playing with his guest Glenda Board from Axe Cliff Golf Club.

In second place were Max Pipe with Lucille New from Looe Golf Club.

Taking third spot after countback with 41 points were Richard Pyle and his guest Sandra Walker from Axe Cliff whilst edged into fourth were the pairing of Peter Dart and his guest Alison Cook from Sidmouth.

Four pair’s had twos receiving 12 balls each. They were Paul Hill and Sandy King, Phil Wall and Alison McGowan, seniors vice captain Mike Watts and Margaret Ketchington and Max Pipe and Lucille New.

The ‘Nearest the Pin’ competition for the men on the 12th hole was won by David Chapman (33 feet) and for the ladies’ on the second hole was Sandy King (three feet). The Hidden Holes prize was won by John Northover and his guest Anna Bath. The prize table looked lovely with a good range of items chosen by Maggie Pipe - with help from Max and the excellent flower arrangement was by Linda Northover.

Max and Maggie, who organised this competition, were thanked for their hard work in making the day such a success.
