Clare Cleverly led the launch of girls’ rugby at Sidmouth RFC on Sunday along with coaching support from RFU Level 2 coaches, Kieran Davies of Exeter Chiefs, 1st XV player Matt Farrington, Colts Ollie Blyth and Christian Goddard and parents Cara Monaghan and Saul Vickery
The early signs look really good for the girls after the first session. The skill levels, enthusiasm and effort were exceptional. The club aims to make the sessions fun and safe and to develop the rugby skills of all the girls.
Training will regularly be at 3-4pm on Sundays at the Sidmouth RFC Blackmore Field and there are already plans to play against other clubs through the autumn. The training is aimed at U13 and U15 girls which cover the school years 7, 8, 9 and 10.
The girls are just starting-off so no previous rugby experience required - all girls are welcome next Sunday. Parents with enquiries should contact Clare Cleverly on 07920143449; the girls can just turn up.
