Chard & District Swimming Club took part in the recent Somerset Development Meet aimed at young and inexperienced swimmers looking to try to achieve County times for next spring, writes Hannah Pullinger.

Twenty-four swimmers aged 9 and upwards took part over two days, achieving many personal best times and a total of 21 County qualifying times .

Top three medal positions were achieved by: Jess McAuley 9, 50m freestyle, Henry Taswell 11, 50m butterfly, 100m I/Medley, 200m backstroke and I/M, Abi Bonning 12, 50m breaststroke, 100m freestyle, 100m butterfly and 200m I/M, Hope Horsfield 13, 200m I/M, Rory Dyer 14, 200m freestyle, Nathan Roberts 15, 50m and 100m backstroke, 50m butterfly, and Wilf Gosden 17, 100m and 200m breaststroke.

Swimmers taking part were: Girls: Brooke Mathieson, Holly Dickinson, Jess McAuley, Eden McDonald, Xanthe Dyer, Helen and Sarah Underwood, Jess Patch, Abi Bonning, Hope Horsfield, Flo Swan, Mollie Simpson, Marianna Dyer, Lauren Real.

Boys: Ben Webb, Simon Davis, Henry Taswell, Leo Bonning, Joss Copeman, Michael Moulding, Liam Mathieson, Nathan Roberts, Rory Dyer and Wilf Gosden.

●Club Swimmers of the Month for September were Michael Moulding 11 and Abbie Herbert 8 who achieved the most progress points in the September Club Gala.
