The run is all off road, along the paths and trails alongside the beautiful River Dart. The sometimes shady woodlands gave the 600 runners some relief from the very hot sunshine.

The first AVR home was Graham Newton 82nd in 46:29; he also won the men’s over 65 trophy.

Coming in next was Robin Britton, 146th in 50:30. Sue Venn was really pleased with her run as she was six minutes quicker than her effort in the Dalwood race; she was 428th in 1:04:30.

Diane Newton also had good cause to celebrate as by finishing 487th in 1:08:46 she sliced over three minutes off her previous best time for this event.
