In the Lyme Regis July Stableford, Division One, Jim Allan played steadily and surely as he scored on every hole, writes Richard Jackman.

Allan accumulated 19 points on the front nine and he then upped the pace with 21 on the back nine, to finish with the best score of the day – 40 points.

Second place saw a close contest between the two Marks - Lewis and Scott as they both scored 38 points.

Despite eagling the fourth hole for five points, Scott had to settle for third place as Lewis upped his game on the back nine, parring seven holes to take silver on countback.

Division Two was tighter affair, but well won by Malcolm Wilson with 39 points.

Like Division One winner Allan, he too scored steadily and upped his game on the back nine.

James Turner started well and, despite a few blips in the middle of his round, held his nerve to finish second on 38.

However, for Richard Emm, despite finishing in third place with 37, it was very much a case of ‘what might have been’ and indeed could have been so much better, but for two poor holes at the end of his round.

In other news, Lyme’s lady captain, Susan Moore held her Captain’s Day where the theme was ‘a day at the movies’.

Playing in teams of three the course was a picture, as dalmations, nuns, Alice in Wonderland, a witch, cowgirls and no fewer than two Cruela de Vils (!) adorned the course, having a fun time followed by a meal.

Although not the important item, 101 Dalmations won in the form of Jane Dixon, Jane Andrews and Gilly Madill.
