Lyme Regis bowls latest – mixed fortunes for league teams

Mixed fortunes were again the order of the day for Lyme Regis bowlers in the various leagues, writes Paul Moffitt.

The best result once again was from the men in the championship as they banked eight of the 10 points on offer away to Blandford.

The men’s result in Division One was disappointing as they gained only four points, this despite winning on two of the rinks!

However, this represents a good result against Bridport on their own patch and augers well for the rest of the season.

The ladies, and men’s teams in Division Two both had to be happy with just two points against Dorchester and Portland BO respectively.

The men have a tough task ahead of them this Saturday, when they meet Wellworthy in the two-rink competition.

In the two friendlies, Lyme Regis came off second best, narrowly away to Den Teignmouth, but comprehensively against a strong touring side from Tregarron, Wales.

This Friday (May 16) the club are holding their annual ‘Quiz and Supper’ evening (7pm for a 7.30pm start). Anyone interested in entering a team, up to six peopel per team, should contact Trevor Allman on 07836622809.

The cost is £7 per person with the entry fee including supper.
