Lyme Regis golf latest - McGown goes to Town

In the July Medal there was a Division One success for Ian McGown, writes Richard Jackman.

McGown struck a spectacular score of nett 64 to be the clear winner by a margin of four shots from George Seed and Neal Cullen who both finished with scores of nett 68.

In Division Two it was victory for junior Lewis Cottam with a well grafted nett 68.

Second place went to David Binns nett 68 and David Jones took third with a nett 70.

The ladies had some close scores for their July Medal and Coronation Cup meeting.

The Silver Division was won by Caroline Baker with a nett 75.

Second place was claimed by Felicity Poole with a nett 76 and third was Valerie Waites with her nett 78.

The Bronze Division winner was Kim Beauchamp with a nett 74.

Second went to Sue Crabb, nett 76, and third to Jane Broom, nett 78.

The winner of the Golf Foundation Brooch was Kim Beauchamp with second place going to Caroline Baker whilst Sue Crabb wa third.

Club members, family and his many friends were saddened by the untimely death of Max Thorner, an invaluable member, who did so much to improve the enjoyment of all at the golf club.
