Matt Watson continued his impressive run of form this year by winning the Lyme Regis Junior Easter Cup with a net 68, writes Richard Jackman.

Watson edged out his doubles partner Cameron Moss (69) with Moss taking second and he in turn just edged out Lewis Gibbons into third spot after countback was called into play.

In the men’s April stableford the tough weather conditions were reflected in the scores as Chris Brice had the best score of the day with 33 points to win Division One , followed by Roger Turner then Malcolm Wilson both with 32 points.

Steve Piper secured first place in Division Two with 31 points and Bob Shepherd continued his podium appearances with 29 and Mark Lewis in third on 28.

Lyme Regis and Sherborne are getting to know each other very well on the golf course playing each other twice last week. In the Carpet Barn, Sherborne made home advantage tell, but in the Knighton Heath Knock Out Lyme also used home advantage well to progress to the next round. With a seniors’ match and Hardy B cup game this week the local rivalry will continue!

The ladies played for the Andrew Black 4-Ball Better Ball Trophy and amid keen competition Caroline Baker and Emma Davies won with 40 points from Jane Dixon and Rosie Jackman 39 points. Kathy Briggs and Geraldine Wickes 38 points just beat Jenny Scott and Rosemary Dare on countback.
