Archant

The big news of the week is the Madeira Finals which have been reported elsewhere, writes Jenny Smith.

Apart from that the news of those who have played final rounds in County Competitions this week is that Jan Roberts, Jacky Howle and Liz Healy were disappointed to be knocked out of the Benevolent triples in the section final against Seaton played at Honiton. Janine Orchard was also disappointed to lose in the Over-55 singles semi-final to Sarah Quayle of Plymstock.

Christine Macaulay, Sue Harriott and Liz Smerdon won both their quarter and semi final rounds of the two-wood triples this week at Braunton for a place in the County finals on September 6, at Newton Abbot.

The last but one EDL fixture against Topsham was played at Madeira last Thursday. Madeira had a strong win of plus 34 shots gaining 6 points. Sue Harriott’s rink won by 34 shots to 10 and Liz Smerdon’s by 20 shots to 10. There’s one more re-scheduled game to play against Feniton before the league results are known.
