Members of the Sidmouth and East Devon Fencing Club travelled to Glastonbury for the Dunstan Foil and Epee competition.
Exmouth fencer Keenan Palmer did full justice to his training and won gold in the Under-9 foil.
There was no doubt that his accurate blade work would prevail and he was undefeated the whole day.
Clyst St Mary’s Finn Manning, still a tender 11-years-old, fenced in the 12-13 class and found the physical strength of some of his older opponents hard to combat.
However, he prevailed with his usual tenacity, enthusiasm and skill, and brought home a bronze medal.
Also competing were Thomas Gray (under-11 foil), Luke Gray (open epee) and Nigel Manning (open foil).
Sidmouth and East Devon fencing club will continue to train as usual at Sidmouth Sports Centre on Thursday evenings throughout August, and new members are very welcome.
