This Friday (April 21) sees the start of the Ottery St Mary Bowls Club Club Nights where any new players are always welcome to come along and try their hand, all equipment and coaching is provided, writes Michael Smith.

All that folk require is flat shoes or trainers and it all starts from 6pm at the club’s Strawberry Lane home.

The following Friday (April 28), sees the start of our Open Weekend, proceedings begin at 4pm on Friday with an event ‘Bowls 4 Fun’.

John and Terri Ward, the club’s BDA coaches, will be on hand with expert advice and help to anyone who would like to try this great game of bowls..

All ages are welcome, at the Ottery St Mary club the you8ngste current playing member is 13 years and the oldest is 92!

The ‘Bowls 4 Fun’ event continues over the weekend from 11am on Saturday, April 29 through to the close of play on Sunday (April 30).
