honiton FC U14s finished their league campaign at home to Exeter Panthers on Sunday, losing 4-1, writes Richard Ayres.
Honiton started brightly with some decent football, on a pitch that has taken a lot of water over the last six weeks, and took the lead with a goal from Harry Liesk.
They were pegged back by Panthers by the half time whistle and found themselves 2-1 down, despite missing a gilt edge chance to level right on the whistle.
As soon as the second half had started Honiton fell a further goal behind, which killed off their challenge.
The main difference between the two teams was Exeter’s willingness to compete when required to do so. Honiton didn’t at vital times and it cost them dearly. Man of the Match for Honiton was Matt Simpson who worked very hard throughout the match.
