This month’s Stableford had the added attraction of playing for the Gerry Hartley Trophy and although players in Div 2 competed hard for success, with three players finishing under par, it was Div 1 player Ed Reece who took the honours with a very creditable 41pts, writes Andy Wagner.

Runners up in Div1 were Ron Graham, 35pts and Alan Pollock, 34 pts. The three Div 2 fighters were Tim Welch, 39 pts, Sam Bowyer Thornton, 38pts and Mark Fowler, 37 pts. Admittedly, there’s no name on the board with this one but it’s a lovely club trophy to win.

●After being called off the course last week due to the mist, 68 Seniors enjoyed a full round playing a team Stableford event in spite of the drizzle. The format did not meet with universal approval!

One score counted on the par fours, two on the par threes and all three on the par fives. The runaway winners were Ted Chandler, Robin Mitchell and Ray Cross with 57 points, beating the rest of the field by two clear shots.

Runners-up were Andy Sharland, John Bevan and Phil Faulkener.

A count back was needed for third spot which was taken by John Dickinson, Keith Thomas and Alan Booth with the last prize going to Pat Purtell, Fred Thomas and Howard Pritchard.
