Yarcombe closed the gap on F Division leaders Babbacombe to 13 points with their sixth win of the season, beating visiting Culmstock by six wickets.
Richard Reed took 4-19 from 6.1 overs and Darren Copp claimed 2-23 as the Mid Devon side were bundled out for 108.
Yarcombe skipper James Hayden then hit an unbeaten 25 to guide his side to victory. Yarcombe’s day got even better when news of a rare defeat for another of their rivals for promotion, Kingskerswell, came through.
Skipper James Hayden said: “We have worked very hard as a team to get into this position and the finishing line is now in sight. We must keep doing what has worked so well for us so far this season over the remaining five games.”
Yarcombe have as big a game as they come this Saturday when they travel to Babbacombe.
Whoever of the two E Division heavyweights emerges victorious will surely have one foot in the E Division next season.
