With Olympic swimming capturing the nation’s imagination, Chard Swimming Club recently made special presentations to junior members aged 12 and under in their Junior League Squad this year, writes Hannah Pullinger.
Coloured badges are awarded for the number of selections and swims, with yellow badges for three appearances, red badges for six appearances and blue badges for nine appearances over the four years between ages 9-12 that swimmers can represent the club in the Junior League galas.
Badges were presented at the club’s recent gala held at Flamingo Pool, Axminster, by junior support coach and team manager Karen Adair.
Yellow badges were presented to: Somer Horsfield, India Woodhams, Daisy Brett, Holly Dickinson, Eden McDonald, Imogen Waterhouse, Jessica McAuley, Joss Copeman, Oliver Bright, Oliver Parry Leyshon, Ben Webb, Leo Bonning, Michael Moulding.
Red badges went to: Jessica Patch, Xanthe Dyer, Helen Underwood, Jessica Fowler, Megan Herbert, Ben Greenslade, Simon Davis.
Blue badges were awarded to: Abigail Bonning, Lewis Pearson, Tom Simpson, Ryan Adair, Liam Mathieson, Leo Kindred, Henry Taswell.
Special medals for those swimmers age 12 who have represented the club in all 12 possible galas between the ages of nine and 12 will be presented at the club’s annual Awards Evening in November.
Chard & District are always looking for new members - sessions are held at Axminster, Chard and Crewkerne, as well as long course training at Millfield School pool.
