Honiton Demons Under-10 played matches against Feniton and Ottery St Mary, writes Andy Horn.
The meeting with Feniton saw two well-matched side’s contribute much to a fine game which looked set to be heading for a draw. However, Honiton pushed everyone up for a corner looking for the winner, but got caught on the counter attack. Despite a brilliant save from debut making Freddie Richards, who was playing with a badly bruised hand, the ball fell to a Feniton player who tucked it away.
Against Ottery the contest was much more physical and, despite some gritty defending Demons shipped four first half goals. A reshuffled side in the second half conceded three more. Josh Edwards did well in goal for the Demons who managed a consolation goal through Connor Richards.
The player of the day award was given to Joe Edwards, who got some great tackles in and showed how much fun football should be.
It’s not all about winning but all about enjoying yourself playing the game.
Hopefully all players will be fit and available for the next fixtures which take the Demons to Cullompton.
