Honiton Hawks Under-9s returned to action after the festive break when they travelled to Taunton on Sunday morning.

Due to some unavailability, the Hawks had a depleted squad of seven players for the trip to Somerset.

The seven on duty for the Hawks were: Arran Hansford, Harry Haysom, Kyle Moore, Logan Symons, Miles Salter, Taylor Prettejohn and Will Parris.

Taunton had a larger playing pool so four shorter, 10-minute games were played.

All the games were closely fought affairs with the Hawks doing just enough to secure wins in three of the contests with the other game ending in a draw.

The Hawks’ Best Effort award went to Harry Haysom for taking on board some advice from the coaches regarding being bolder with running straighter and harder in attack. This resulted in him breaking through the defensive line to create two tries for teammates, in addition to grabbing four tries for himself.
