Honiton RFC have continued their summer work and appointed a new man to lead the 2nd XV into the coming campaign.

Ben Welch is the man takes with skippering the Lacemen’s 2nd XI.

Speaking about the appointment of Ben, who is sponsored by Driveway Transformations, Honiton RFCs Jerry Rice says: “Ben has been an absolute asset for the second XV over the last couple of years and we are delighted that he has accepted the offer of taking on the skipper duties fro the long-serving James Foot.”

Rice continued: “There are so many exciting changes happening this season, it would be madness to not get involved!”

Ben Welch was formally welcomed into his new post by Honiton RFC 1st XV team manager Brendon Finlay and the Honiton head coach Nathan Hannay.

The club has also confirmed that the Dave Turner Memorial Cup meeting with Sidmouth will take place at Allhallows on Saturday, August 18 (2.30pm).
