Honiton Tigers Under-7s roar to finest displays of the season at a sunny Sidmouth

16:26 11 March 2014

Honiton Tigers Under-7s produced arguably their best performance of the season with a series of well fought wins at neighbours Sidmouth on a sunny Sunday morning at Blackmore Field.

Once again the visitors travelled with large numbers and were able to field three groups of five players who played a total of four games each. With coach Jon Hannay were his son Harvey, Harrison Griffiths, Jake Carter, Henry Devin, Tom Phillips and Finley Backhouse.

They won all four of the games they played with some brilliant team tries and great passing and tagging.

All the games were closely fought but in the end Honiton just edged out their opponents.

Coach Adam Kent took charge of the group consisting of Danny Al-Sedani, Jake Downs, Sam Olliff, Alexander Goody, Dylan Burrough and Ewan Powers-Maguire. Once again there were some great tries, passing and tagging as the Tigers secured two wins, a draw and one defeat in their games. Goody certainly seemed to relish playing against some if his school friends.

Coach Ray Hennessy and his group played some keenly contested games and despite some good team work, tries and passing, they were unlucky to lose two and draw two of the games they played. His players consisted of his son Robert, Flynn Williams, Charlie Pickering, Alfie Terry, Jacob Farnes and Tyler Patch.

Hannay said afterwards: “We were very proud of all the players today. There were some great individual displays but more importantly they played as a team - maybe the sun bought out the best in them.”
