Honiton Hawks Under-9s were in action against visiting Withycombe for their latest Sunday morning action.

Due to the inclement weather over recent months, this was the first home game the Hawks have had since November!

The Hawks had a squad of 10 players - Arran Hansford, Byron Chalmers, Harry Haysom, Kyle Moore, Liam Webber, Logan Symons, Mason Peek, Miles Salter, Taylor Prettejohn and Will Parris.

Sadly, Arran Hansford picked up an injury in the first game and was unable to take part in any further action.

Withycombe had similar numbers, so two eight-a-side games with rolling substitutions of 10 minutes each way were played.

Both the games were closely fought, competitive and enjoyable affairs, with both teams showing some excellent attacking endeavour and defensive tackling. Deservedly, both teams won a game each.

Taylor Prettejohn won the Best Effort award for a fine performance with some excellent aggressive tackling in defence.

He also showed the same determination in attack, carrying hard and straight, which resulted in him scoring a couple of tries.
