The first fixture of the week was when Topsham visited Seaton last Tuesday, writes Linda Stone.

Seaton had a good win and the top rink was Hilary Hillier, Keith Miles, George Mabon and Marian Vessey.

On Wednesday, Seaton Over 60s B played last year’s Division Six rivals Chardstock A, at home, and had an impressive 40-27 win. The match went to the last end with Seaton taking five shots to secure the full eight points. Top rink was Norman Stone, Doug Hislop and Jeremy Allison.

A close encounter at Seaton against a spirited St Thomas A side ended with Seaton A hanging on to their unbeaten start to the season, winning by one shot (35-34). The top triple was Peter Newton, Ron Rowley and Alan Wood.

Thursday saw Seaton welcome Crewkerne to play a friendly game of four mixed rinks. Seaton scored 109 and Crewkerne 59. All four rinks won, the top rink was P Grigg, K Miles, R Pluck and J Miles 33-10 closely followed by M Hillier, T Talbot, A Mayhew and D Yardley who won 35-13.

On Friday in torrential rain the triple of Maria Johnson, Linda Stone and Pat Whitworth played a third round County Competition game against a triple from Honiton. The final result was 23-9 shots, after 14 ends, when Honiton decided to call it a day after they dropped a nine (a hot shot) on one end and then a further three. The Seaton team are now in the final 16 and will be playing a triple from Plymouth at Exonia at the beginning of July.

The week ended with the first round of the ladies Championship on Saturday. Fortunately the weather had improved and an excellent days bowling ensued.
