Seaton Town finally got the better this season of Willand Rovers Reserves, beating the Mid Devon side 5-1 at Colyford Road.
After a cup defeat and a recent 0-0 draw Josh Stunell’s men were in no mood to allow the Mid Devon side further success and despatched them in ruthless fashion.
Ben Ede (2), Cameron Vere, Alex Wheatley and Dan Norman netted the goals.
Town’s title chances were then boosted by the news of points dropped by one of their two closest challengers, Topsham Town in a 3-3 draw with Hatherleigh.
Boss Josh Stunell said: “We were clinical with the way we went about our game very well all across the pitch. The performance was very pleasing on the eye. We are in a good shape right now and that’s what you always look for heading in to the second month of the year and running in towards the business end of the season.”
Next up is Saturday’s derby meeting with Beer. Stunell says: “Since Beer beat us the week before Christmas we have been in great shape and, if anything, that Furzebrake defeat did us a power of good,. Now however, it is time to put that particular score line right! Both teams know so much about it each other and I am sure it will be keenly contested all over the pitch. If we play as we did against Willand then I am sure we will get out of the game what we hope to.”
