Sibley stars in Bustinskin Osprey Sprint Triathlon

11:13 08 May 2014

The Triathlon season has started and a number of local N1 Tri club members have been putting their winter’s training to its first test.

Last weekend four racers headed over to Portland early on a blustery Sunday morning to take part in the Bustinskin Osprey Sprint Triathlon.

The race involves a 300-metre pool swim followed by a 10-mile cycle out to the lighthouse at the end of Portland and back and 3.1-mile run past the Olympic Sailing Center.

James Sibley finished 20th in 01:04:58 fourth in the M18-25 category, Simon D’albertanson was 26th in the M40-44 category, Tim Sibley 34th and Jess Tubbs was 92nd in the F25-29 category.

GB age group Triathlete and N1 club coach Jane Beech was a very proud mum, too, as son Oliver showed the influence of genetics as he won his first triathlon at Burnham on Sea in the Tristar 1 category (9-10 year olds).

The N1 triathlon club operates all over East Devon with pool sessions in Sidmouth and Honiton, sea swims at Seaton and Sidmouth and a whole range of cycling and running activities.

This year promises to be an especially exciting one for the club as under the leadership of Garry Perratt the club’s events team will be staging a number of races.

The N1 tri club is particularly lucky to have secured the opportunity to use the Westpoint arena which offers all sorts of possibilities to ride and run in a safe environment.

A number of club members will be taking part in their own Tour de France to coincide with the race proper and there are at least six members signed up to take on ‘Ironman Races’ later in the year.

The club has a superb new kit, too!
