This coming weekend sees four of the Straightliners Drag’n’Drift championships at the Dakota Raceway, Smeatharpe, East Devon.

Two local drag racers will be in action with Mark ‘Wolfy’ Smith and Baxter Williams both looking to defend their respective titles.

‘Wolfy’ says: “Both young Baxter and I will be looking for fast times. What’s more we will both be targetting new personal best times, though that is dependent, of course, on a mix of weather and conditions. From my point of view, my beast [his drag racing bike] has been given a thorough ‘going over’ by Big Paul’s Autos of Sidbury – as has my beloved battle bus – and both have fresh MOTs and are raring to go.

“Hand on heart, without the simply magnificent support I get from Big Paul’s I really do not think I’d be able to get anywhere near a race track, let alone set new best times.”

The action at Smeatharpe gets underway on Saturday (October 6) at 9am.
