The cancellation or match abandoned count continues to climb the length and breadth of the league and after seven weeks there have been a total of 65 matches either cancelled or abandoned without a finish.

That compares to just 40 through out the entire season in 2011 and 59 in the 2010 campaign.

In recent years the highest number of games called off was in the soggy summer of 2009 when 104 matches across the seven divisions of 1st XI cricket were not played owing to the weather.

Both Axminster and Seaton, who did not lose a single game last year to the weather have lost two each this season whilst Feniton, who lost three in both the 2009 and 2010 campaigns but none last season, were washed out for the first time this term on Saturday. Honiton have been harder hit than most in recent years. They were undone by the elements four times in 2009, twice in 2010 and once last year and they have already suffered two weather washouts this season.
