The Seniors were grateful that their October Medal on Friday went ahead despite the recent prolonged rain, writes Janet Dack.

In heavy conditions it was not surprising that scoring was not easy and therefore the 72 nett, from winner Bill Polley (16) was an excellent round in the circumstances.

Three players returned scores of 75 nett and second place on countback went to Mick Tomes (17) and third spot to Mike Jamieson (25).

Rob Heard (14) was the player to miss out on the prizes. There were four twos, from the aforementioned Rob, John Pugh, Bill Polley and Dave Weston.

On Monday the team travelled to Wheathill for the final inter-club match of the season. The Seniors found the newly-forked greens difficult to cope with and lost heavily by 5 v 1. The first four games went the way of Wheathill but Axe Cliff succeeded in squaring the final two. Half points for the visitors were gained by Peter Knighting/Chris Walker and John Pugh/Iain Bain.
