Honiton were home again this weekend to Exe 4ths, who currently lay two places below Honiton at sixth in the table, writes Sophie George.

Honiton started the game in great style, and the first goal came from the second short corner of the game. Jean Herniman passed out to Amy Phillips who got a well struck shot straight into the corner.

Honiton spent the majority of the first half in the Exeter goal area and should have scored several more. In the end Vanessa Trude took the ball into the circle and passed a great ball to Becky Bond who scored with a lifted ball into the corner of the goal. In the second half Exe 4ths made good use of a ball that slipped past the Honiton defence bringing the score to 2-1. Honiton continued to press hard and Sophie George finally managed to put one over the line when she followed up a lovely pass from Dawn Mayo who found herself too close to the keeper to get a shot away. Player of the Match Phillips finished in superb style with another excellent strike from the edge of the circle.

It was a great team effort from all the Honiton players but this week Player of the Match was unanimously Amy Phillips.

●Honiton continue to practice on a Tuesday evening at Cullompton Sports Centre at 7pm until 8.30pm meeting in Honiton at 6.30pm.
