Substitute Ben Vine was the goal scorer in the 75th minute, but Wes Carr, one of a number of new players at Sector Lane this season, served up the star man performance. Keeper Luke Ashford was fully deserving of his latest clean sheet.

The Tigers second team travelled to North Devon to meet Lynton and Lynmouth in a Devon Senior Cup tie and, despite leading 2-0, ended up on the wrong end of a 6-3 score line.

Club chairman Ray Self had to forgo the chance to watch the senior side to drive a late arrival to the game and then he ran the line whilst team boss Danny Beer played in goal! Matt Hewer (2) and Joel Seward got the Tigers goals. Self said: “The score line does not do justice to a battling performance by the team. We were short on numbers and those that made the long trip did us proud. We are certainly in a better place this season than we were 12 months ago. Both squads have real depth now.”

On Saturday Town entertain Sidmouth Town in a Throgmorton Cup East Devon derby at Sector Lane (2pm).
