There was much to celebrate when Honiton Swimming Club was able to present a trophy for both the most improved boy and most improved girl swimmer for the first time.
George Tomkins, swimmer of the month, with HArry tomkins, bronze in 50m backstroke and Edward Vaughan, Most Improved Boy swimmerEdward Vaughan and Tiegan Chipping were the recipients of these awards. New trophies have been sponsored by a local business and Honiton Swimming Club is thrilled with the recent interest in the club by local businesses.
There was great applause when the Swimmer of the Year, Carys Lily, was announced, as her county time in the 50m breaststroke has inspired the other swimmers and filled them with aspirations and self-belief.
The swimmers have continued to work hard and improve, at every single gala, this year. Carys also achieved the most PBs this year.
There was rousing applause for George Tomkins, who received the Swimmer of the Month award. Tomkins is an enthusiastic U10 swimmer, who receives a bronze award with as much aplomb as a gold one.
The evening was well attended, with food provided by the parents and prizes awarded by coach Ralph Watson and club chairman Stuart Vaughan.
