Taunton races set to embrace ‘Time to talk Day’ next Thursday

TAUNTON Racecourse host the first of three February meetings when they stage a seven-race card next Thursday (February 6).
The day is being entitles ‘Time to Talk Day’. To mark the occasion Time to Change, England’s biggest mental health anti-stigma programme, have been given a named race; The Mental Health Challenge Maiden Hurdle Race at 2pm. The NHS, Public Health, Mind and Rethink Mental Illness will be going to the races to support the campaign and there will be a stand inviting people to stop for a chat as well as cheering on the horses.
The most valuable race on the card is The Bathwick Tyres Novices’ Handicap Hurdle, a Class 3 event, over two miles one furlong which has prize money of £9,000 up for grabs and the longest race of the day, The February 18, Half-Term Meeting Mares’ Handicap Hurdle over three miles and half a furlong
goes to post at 4pm.
Local punters are reminded that if they book their tickets on-line before 10am on the day before racing is due that they can take advantage of the up to 20 per cent discount which is available.
On race days a courtesy bus service departs from Taunton Railway Station an hour before the first action, picking up at the Bus Station soon after and returning 30 minutes after the last race.
