The latest edition of the River Exe Regatta, now in its fourteenth year, will be run under the burgee of Topsham Sailing club on behalf of the combined clubs of the River Exe, over the weekend of June 21 and 22, writes Mike Rice.

This year’s regatta has been sponsored by Exe Sails and Covers, and Young Devon.

The organisers are grateful to the sponsors, and to the local firms who have advertised in the regatta programme, for their generous support.

There will be racing for dinghies in two handicap fleets and multihulls on the Saturday, with the first start at 12.45. Younger sailors will be able to join in a Swallows and Amazons adventure at Topsham SC from noon until 3pm on Saturday.

The traditional regatta party, with a barn dance and roast pork buffet, will be held at Topsham SC on Saturday evening. Tickets for the buffet can be pre-ordered online at the regatta website.

Racing will resume on Sunday with a pursuit race for all dinghy classes, starting at 1.45pm.

There will be a separate, long-distance race for the multihulls. The prize giving and tea will take place at Topsham SC from 5.30pm.

There will be a free prize draw for all competitors and helpers, but as usual, you have to be there to win a prize!

For more details and online entry (closes June 19), go to the regatta website at www.river-exe-regatta.org.uk.
