Upottery were without a game on a soggy first Saturday of the new year.
With no matches beating the weather it means no change in the Fresha League Division Three table which currently sees Dan Prettejohn’s side sitting seven points clear of University.
The Students do have three games in hand and have suffered just two defeats to date, the most recent one being an early December reversal at the hands of Upottery.
Prettejohn’s side host basement dwellers Exmouth Amateurs on Saturday before, seven days later, they entertain fourth placed Newtown.
They have free date from league action on January 25, but begin February with a return against University, a match that will surely determine the villagers fate this season!
If Upottery can win their next three they will have banked 43 points with just five games left to play and that would leave them in pole position to bag a place in Division Two next season.
Prettejohn says: “I am taking nothing for granted. It’s true the players have got us into a great position and I am glad we have already played the likes of high-flying Chulmleigh who we managed to beat before they got their season up and running. There’s no doubt the teams around us are all going to drop points as they play each other over the final third of the season. For our part we need to keep winning and, if we can win the next three in particular, it really will make the run-in so much more comfortable for us.”
