Last Friday, in a departure from the customary medals and straight forward stablefords, over 40-seniors took part in a team of three Yellow Ball event, writes Janet Dack.
All three members play the yellow ball for six holes i.e. first, fourth, seventh, and so on with the points scored with the yellow ball doubled and added to the best score from the other two.
A score with the yellow ball was essential to each team, as without it, only one score from the remaining two is permitted.
Despite some minor difficulties, it was generally agreed that this was an enjoyable event and should be repeated once or twice a year.
The winners this time round with an amazing total of 113 were Chris Walker, Nick Povey and Peter Rollason.
The runners-up, with an excellent 109 points were Alan Vincent, Sid Pember and Derek Williamson whilst in third with a score of 102 were Malcolm Glass, Iain Bain and Mike Jamieson.
There were three two’s struck from Chris Walker, Nick Povey and Bob Flay.
